How it works

Each session follows the GROW model:

G – GOAL

The goal of the session is defined. It may be the final goal a client wants to achieve or a stage goal. In any case, each session has a session goal.

R – REALITY

The coach uses questions to identify the current situation in the area in question and also checks relevant successes in the past that might motivate the client and trigger more thoughts. Also, the coach tries to identify some areas that might have been overlooked or neglected. Values and their relevance to the goal are also discussed.

O – OPTIONS

The client creates a lot of options that they could consider to get to the goal. In this phase all the options are possible. The coach uses well targeted challenging questions to stimulate the client's thinking. The purpose is to create NEW OPTIONS that the client couldn't see so far. It’s not about what the client will do but what they could do.

W – WILL (WAY FORWARD)

Having considered all the options the client decided which of them are the most “attractive” and which look the most efficient. Then, together with the coach, the client produces an action plan with an accurate schedule of activities. After the meeting(s) the coach keeps in contact and sees the client through the phases and makes sure they are accomplished or amended accordingly. The coach’s role is to encourage the client to stay focused and achieve their goal.
